HoJoLand.com HoJo's Food Product Info

When Howard Johnson's chain of eateries dotted the American roadsides, there was a giant food manufacturing and distribution system, owned by the company itself.  It's main manufacturing plant was located in Brockton, Massachusetts.  On the site, in various buildings, were the HJ bakery, kitchens and ice cream plant.  Up until its recent demolition, the main plant wa occupied by Fairfield Farms Kitchens (FFK).  Though Fairfield Farms shut down in 2006, FFK had its own line of food products, while manufacturing the popular "Howard Johnson;s Macaroni & Cheese," Howard Johnson's Toastees," "Howard Johnson's Fried Clams," and "Howard Johnson's Chicken Croquettes."  Those frozen food products were sold at many supermarkets (primarily in the Northeastern U.S.).  The ice cream was still made up until early 2006 in Florida at The Ice Cream Club (which also has its own line of ice cream).  However,  The Ice Cream Club is no longer involved with HJ Ice Cream manufacturing.  Up until a few years ago, there was a company in upstate New York that made HoJo Ice Cream in retail pints and quarts.  Other than the products listed above, no other original HoJo food products are manufactured. HJ retail ice cream is also no longer made.  Fairfield Farms Kitchen's closed their operations in 2006.  America's Kitchen of Atlanta, Georgia, had the rights to manufacture the HJ food products, licensed by La Mancha Group, LLC, successor to Franchise Associates, Inc. (FAI).  La Mancha also owned the original HJ recipes.  However, America's Kitchen shut down in May, 2008.  Since then, the HoJo retail frozen food line has been discontinued due to the closure of America's Kitchen.  La Mancha ceased to exist, and thus, Wyndham Worldwide reclaimed the rights to HoJo food and beverage and all HoJo brands.
